Shelter Belt Trimming

Our machines are based on 35 years experience servicing this district and have been purpose built for efficiency and capability. Our machines are at home on farms and have been referred to by some as the Gold Standard in hedge cutters. If it can be done- we can do it.

Every one to three years is best. Regular trimming keeps the hedges tidy, it’s quicker and keeps the volume of slash to a minimum.

Some generalisations- Trees closer to the ranges will grow slower and require less frequent maintenance

The down wind side of shelter belts will grow out twice as fast as the windward side.

Fast growing variety’s like poplars and alders require more frequent maintenance, yearly or biannual trimming is best.

Slower growing variety’s like macrocarpa and pine can be left longer two to three years generally.

Many of our clients find it is best to do regular trimming.

The flail or slasher cutter gives our clients a supper fast and crisp job for maintenance work. Saws cannot match the efficiency and finish of the flail.

We use the saw for topping large trees or sawing back overgrown hedges.

Yes we can! Our custom built shelter trimmers are equipped with six way blades to efficiently push up trimmings into piles. We can also provide a loader fitted with a large grab to pick up trimmings from roadsides and laneways and stack up in piles.

We work closely with local network providers Centralines and Scanpower to provide safe and cost effective maintenance of vegetation under powerlines. We can arrange a close approach permit or safety disconnection if required.
